About Debian

Debian, a free and open-source operating system, has been a cornerstone of the Linux world since its inception in 1993. Founded on the principles of freedom and community-driven development, Debian has grown to become one of the most respected and influential projects in the open-source community. At its core, Debian is committed to remaining 100% free software, adhering strictly to the principles set forth by the Free Software Foundation. This commitment ensures that users have complete freedom to use, study, modify, and distribute the software as they see fit. Unlike many other operating systems, Debian is not controlled by any corporation but is instead developed by a global network of thousands of volunteers.
